Peat source is the place where the partially decayed material is accumulated. Peat forms in the peat sources such as wetlands or peatlands, variously called bogs, moors, muskegs, mires, tropical swamp forests and fens.
Peat sources are found in many places around the world, notably in Russia, Ireland, Scotland, northern Germany, and Scandinavia, and in North America principally in Canada, Michigan, and the Florida Everglades.
The majority (around 80%) of peat sources are found in high latitudes; approximately 60% of the world's wetlands are peat. Peatlands cover a total of around 3% of global land mass or 3,850,000 to 4,100,000 km2. About 7% of this total has been exploited for agriculture and forestry, with significant environmental repercussions.
Company "Record" Ltd. has been developing the deposits of high-moor peat from the peat source "Morochno-1" located near Rovno, Ukraine, for several years. This peat source covers the area of about 246 hectares.
The peat extracted by “Record” Ltd. has excellent quality and was recommended for its utilization in agriculture and farming without limits for preparation of peat composts, peat mixtures. The studies of the samples of peat were carried out in the laboratories of Ukraine, Canada and Germany. They proved that the peat extracted this peat source meets the highest standards.
